Voxsuprine

Voxsuprine Ingredients: Isoxsuprine Tablets
Representative Names: Vasodilan, Voxsuprine
What are Voxsuprine tablets ?
Voxsuprine is a drug known as a vasodilator. It increases the size of the blood vessels to allow increased blood flow. Voxsuprine is used to treat problems that result from poor blood circulation. Generic Voxsuprine tablets are available.

What should my health care professional know before I receive Voxsuprine ?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
•angina (chest pain)
•asthma
•bleeding problems
•diabetes
•glaucoma
•hardening of the arteries
•heart disease, heart failure or recent heart attack
•history of stroke or TIA's (mini-strokes)
•low blood pressure
•lung disease
•thyroid problems (hyperthyroidism)
•an unusual reaction to Voxsuprine, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
•pregnant or trying to get pregnant
•breast-feeding

How should Voxsuprine be used ?
Voxsuprine tablets should be taken by mouth. Voxsuprine may be taken with milk, food or antacid to avoid stomach upset. Tablets may be crushed and added to corn syrup or cherry syrup to make into a slurry (or suspension) just before taking the dose. Take your doses at regular intervals (at the same time each day). Follow the directions on the prescription label. Continue to take this medicine even if you feel better. It can take several weeks or longer to see the full effects of this medicine. Do not stop taking this medicine, except on the advice of your prescriber. Do not take this medicine more often than directed.

Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

What if I miss a Voxsuprine dose ?
If you miss your dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double your dose.

What drug(s) may interact with Voxsuprine ?
•alcohol-containing beverages or medicines
•nicotine or tobacco products
•medicines for high blood pressure
•other medicines which can lower the blood pressure (vasodilators)

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.

No drug interactions of clinical significance have been documented between Voxsuprine and other medications. There is an interaction between nicotine and Voxsuprine. Nicotine constricts blood vessels and will interfere with how Voxsuprine works.

What side effects may I notice from receiving Voxsuprine ?
Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
•chest pain
•decrease in the amount of urine passed
•difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
•dizziness or faintness
•fast or irregular heartbeat
•shortness of breath
•skin rash or hives
•swelling of the throat, face, lips, or tongue

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
•drowsiness
•flushing
•minor headache
•mild nausea or vomiting
•weakness

What should I watch for while taking Voxsuprine ?
It may take some time for this drug to work. Even if you feel better, do not stop taking Voxsuprine without consulting your prescriber.

You may get dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental alertness until you know how Voxsuprine affects you. To reduce the risk of dizzy or fainting spells, do not sit or stand up quickly, especially if you are an older patient. If you feel dizzy, take several deep breaths and lie down with your feet propped up, or bend forward with your head resting between your knees. Alcohol can make you more dizzy, increase flushing and rapid heartbeats. Avoid alcoholic drinks.

Notify your doctor if you experience a rash, dizziness which does not go away, or a fast or irregular heartbeat.

If you are going to have surgery, including dental surgery, tell your prescriber or health care professional that you are taking Voxsuprine.

Where can I keep Voxsuprine ?
Keep out of the reach of children in a container that small children cannot open.

Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15—30 degrees C). Protect from light. Keep away from heat and moisture. Throw away any unused medication after the expiration date on the label.
