What are Nestrex tablets or extended-release capsules ?
Nestrex is a naturally occurring vitamin found in beans, grains, vegetables, liver, meat, and eggs. Nestrex treats or prevents vitamin B6 deficiency, and certain blood problems. Nestrex also has been used to treat seizures (convulsions) in some newborn babies. Generic Nestrex tablets or capsules are available.
 
What should my health care professional know before I take Nestrex ?
They need to know if you have any of the following conditions:
•heart disease
•an unusual or allergic reaction to B vitamins, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
•pregnant or trying to get pregnant
•breast-feeding
 
How should I take Nestrex ?
Take Nestrex tablets or capsules by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow the tablets or capsules with a glass of water. If you are taking a sustained-release form of tablet or capsule, swallow whole; do not crush or chew.
 
What if I miss a Nestrex dose ?
If you miss a dose, skip that dose. Continue with your next scheduled dose.
 
What drug(s) may interact with Nestrex ?
•levodopa
•phenobarbital
•phenytoin

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.
 
What side effects may I notice from taking Nestrex ?
The recommended daily allowance of Nestrex does not cause any side effects.
Side effects related to overdose include:
•headache
•nausea, vomiting
•seizures (convulsions)
•tingling, pain, or numbness in the hands or feet
Call your prescriber or health care professional as soon as you can if you think you have taken an overdose and have any of these side effects.
 
What should I watch for while taking Nestrex ?
Make sure you have a proper diet. Taking Nestrex tablets or capsules does not replace the need for a balanced diet. Some foods that contain Nestrex include: beans, grains, vegetables, liver, meat, and eggs.
 
Where can I keep Nestrex ?
Keep out of the reach of children in a container that small children cannot open.

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Protect from light. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
