Who is Nasonex for ?
Mometasone, a corticosteroid, is used to
prevent and treat allergy symptoms, including sneezing, itching, and
runny or stuffed nose. this medication is sometimes prescribed for
other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. |

How does it work ?
Mometasone reduces swelling and secretions in
the nose by decreasing the amount of certain chemicals--histamine
and prostaglandins--that cause allergy symptoms. |

When should I be careful taking Nasonex ?
Before using mometasone,
- tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are
allergic to mometasone or any other drugs.
- tell your doctor and pharmacist what
prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking,
especially allergy and asthma drugs, drugs that suppress the
immune system, oral steroids (prednisone), and vitamins.
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever
had tuberculosis (TB); glaucoma or cataracts; herpes eye infection;
chicken pox, measles,or other type of infection; recent sores in
your nose; or nose injury or surgery.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan
to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant
while using mometasone, call your doctor.

Side Effects
Although side effects from mometasone are not
common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms
are severe or do not go away:
- headache
- nasal irritation or dryness
- sore throat
- sneezing
- nosebleed
- change in taste or smell
If you experience any of the following
symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
- increased difficulty breathing
- swelling of eyelids, face, or lips
- skin rash or hives
- white spots in the mouth or nose
