Who is Cleocin Pediatric for ?
Clindamycin, an antibiotic, is used to treat
infections of the respiratory tract, skin, pelvis, vagina, and
abdomen. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral
infections. this medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses;
ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. |

When should I be careful taking Cleocin Pediatric ?
Clindamycin may cause colitis (inflammation of
the colon). If you experience any of the following symptoms, call
your doctor immediately: severe persistent diarrhea, severe stomach
cramps, fever, or bloody stool.
Before taking clindamycin,
- tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are
allergic to clindamycin, lincomycin, tartrazine (a yellow dye in
some processed foods and drugs), or any other drugs
- tell your doctor and pharmacist what
prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking,
including vitamins and herbal supplements
- tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are
currently taking any medications for diarrhea, or if you are
taking erythromycin
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever
had gastrointestinal, liver, or kidney disease.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan
to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant
while using clindamycin, call your doctor.

Side Effects
Although side effects from clindamycin are not
common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms
are severe or do not go away:
- upset stomach
- vomiting
- gas
- diarrhea
- nausea
- itching of rectal or genital areas
If you experience the following symptoms, stop
taking clindamycin and call your doctor immediately:
- skin rash
- severe, persistent diarrhea
- severe stomach cramps
- fever
- bloody stool
