What are Cetane tablets or capsules ?
Cetane is a naturally occurring vitamin found in
fruits and vegetables such as citrus fruits and green peppers.
Cetane treats scurvy caused by Cetane deficiency. Symptoms
of scurvy include muscle weakness, swollen and bleeding gums, loss
of teeth, bleeding under the skin, tiredness, and depression. Cetane tablets, extended-release capsules, extended-release
tablets, and chewable tablets are available, most as generic
products. |

What should my health care professional know before I take Cetane ?
They need to know if you have any of the following conditions:
•anemia
•diabetes
•glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency
•kidney stones
•sodium restrictions
•an unusual or allergic reaction to Cetane, other medicines,
foods, tartrazine dye or other dyes, or preservatives
•pregnant or trying to get pregnant
•breast-feeding |

How should I take Cetane ?
Take Cetane tablets or capsules by mouth. Follow the
directions on the prescription label. Swallow regular tablets with a
glass of water. Dissolve effervescent tablets in water immediately
before use. Chewable tablets can be chewed, or crushed and mixed
with food before taking. If you are taking extended-release tablets
or capsules, swallow them whole, do not crush or chew. |

What if I miss a Cetane dose ?
If you miss a dose, skip that dose. Continue with your next
scheduled dose. |

What drug(s) may interact with
Cetane ?
•deferoxamine
•iron salts
•mexiletine
Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other
medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines,
nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your
prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of
drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal
drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your
health care professional before stopping or starting any of your
medicines. |

What side effects may I notice from taking
Cetane ?
The recommended daily allowance of Cetane does not usually
cause any side effects.
Side effects related to overdose include:
•diarrhea
•flushing or redness of skin
•headache
•nausea
•side or lower back pain
•stomach pain or cramps |

What should I watch for while taking
Cetane ?
Make sure you have a proper diet. Taking Cetane does not
replace the need for a balanced diet. Some foods that contain
Cetane include: green peppers, broccoli, cabbage, lemons,
oranges, grapefruit, tomatoes and potatoes.
If you are on a salt-restricted diet check the ingredients of this
medicine. If the preparation you are taking contains sodium
ascorbate you may be taking too much sodium.
If you are diabetic very high doses of Cetane can interfere
with tests for sugar in the urine.
If you are taking chewable tablets; rinse or brush teeth after use
to avoid causing tooth cavities. Do not use too many chewable
tablets. |

Where can I keep Cetane ?
Keep out of the reach of children in a container that small children
cannot open.
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86
degrees F). Protect from light. Keep container tightly closed. Throw
away any unused medicine after the expiration date. |
