Cetane tablets, extended-release capsules, extended-release tablets, and chewable tablets are available, most as generic products.

What should my health care professional know before I take Cetane ?
They need to know if you have any of the following conditions:
•anemia
•diabetes
•glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency
•kidney stones
•sodium restrictions
•an unusual or allergic reaction to Cetane, other medicines, foods, tartrazine dye or other dyes, or preservatives
•pregnant or trying to get pregnant
•breast-feeding

How should I take Cetane ?
Take Cetane tablets or capsules by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow regular tablets with a glass of water. Dissolve effervescent tablets in water immediately before use. Chewable tablets can be chewed, or crushed and mixed with food before taking. If you are taking extended-release tablets or capsules, swallow them whole, do not crush or chew.

What if I miss a Cetane dose ?
If you miss a dose, skip that dose. Continue with your next scheduled dose.

What drug(s) may interact with Cetane ?
•deferoxamine
•iron salts
•mexiletine

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.

What side effects may I notice from taking Cetane ?
The recommended daily allowance of Cetane does not usually cause any side effects.
Side effects related to overdose include:
•diarrhea
•flushing or redness of skin
•headache
•nausea
•side or lower back pain
•stomach pain or cramps

What should I watch for while taking Cetane ?
Make sure you have a proper diet. Taking Cetane does not replace the need for a balanced diet. Some foods that contain Cetane include: green peppers, broccoli, cabbage, lemons, oranges, grapefruit, tomatoes and potatoes.

If you are on a salt-restricted diet check the ingredients of this medicine. If the preparation you are taking contains sodium ascorbate you may be taking too much sodium.

If you are diabetic very high doses of Cetane can interfere with tests for sugar in the urine.

If you are taking chewable tablets; rinse or brush teeth after use to avoid causing tooth cavities. Do not use too many chewable tablets.

Where can I keep Cetane ?
Keep out of the reach of children in a container that small children cannot open.

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Protect from light. Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
